Historically speaking the Branxton Golf Club have produced some extremely talented golfers. The current crop of young guns are no different. Aided by John (Chopper) Chomiszac these boys and girls have a stack of trophies in their cabinets. The team Captain Lee Hueston is soon to progress to the ranks of cadet. His talent and excellent demeanor has placed him in good stead in the club with juniors and seniors alike.  Lee has been well supported with champion young golfers like Adrian Chomiszac, Isaiah Wolferstan, Anthony Bentley, Caitlin Folpp, Brendan Bendeich, Josh Tracey, Cameron Johanson,  Jason and Jessica Varley, and many more.

Subaru State Age Championships 2010

Isaiah Wolferstan, is now the 13 years JNJG State Age Champion 2010 after competing recently in the Jack Newton Junior Golf Subaru State Age Championships.  The event is held annually and this year was played on the NSW South Coast at both the Catalina Country Club in Batemans Bay and the beautiful Mollymook Hilltop Golf Course in Ulladulla. Run over four rounds, the Subaru State Age Championships is arguably the most fraught after title on the Jack Newton Junior Golf program. To be able to play in this event, players must qualify and compete for the 310 positions available. Isaiah's first 2 rounds with scores of 79 and 81 enabled him to make the cut to play for the 13 years boys Cup and title of State Age Champion. His next round of 75, brought him into first place by 3 shots.  His final day score of 77 gave him a 5 shot win and a total of 312 for the four rounds, and the title of 13 years Boy, State Age Champion.

Isaiah started playing golf in New Zealand at the age of 6.  Moving to the Maitland area when he was 8, Isaiah continued to develop his golf skills as a member of Branxton Golf Club.  He plays regularly in the weekly competition and is a member of the Junior Pennants team.  He is also a member of Charlestown Golf Club.  The next major event for Isaiah is the JNJG Muswellbrook Junior Masters, this month (August).  Keep an eye on this young player, as we are sure to be hearing a lot more of him in the future and wish him every success in his goal of becoming a professional golfer.

This outstanding junoir is on his way to a great golfing future.
