Results 3-3-10  WGNSW Medal - 1st Round - Stroke

At the sight of ominous clouds and early threats of rain, the weather held out for this weeks competition round much to the delight of those who took part.

2 of our ladies bought their ‘A’ game once again, with handicap breaks, Maree Neville and Val Benson, nicely done girls – great to see! Maree played a lovely game and was declared the winner on a very tight countback and Val showed that even freshly cored greens were not going to hinder her putting, earning her runner-up and the win in the putting comp as well.

The Water God spared most of us this week but I ‘still’ managed to find somewhere else to lose a ball…..and I was not alone - Welcome back Robyn Hoffman!

I thought I had been everywhere on this golf course but…..apparently not!

Winner of our raffle this week had to leave early after the match and handed her tickets to me to watch over, stating that she “never wins anyway but here they are.” Sue Borham – I’m handing my tickets to you when you get back!

LADIES PENNANTS:

Our Division 3 Ladies Pennant team has their first match for the season on Monday March 8th at Pacific Dunes. The team will play their matches every Monday for the following 7 weeks against teams from within the Newcastle and Hunter Region.

**We wish the girls the best of luck for the 2010 season.

Wine Country Classic March 23 & 24, 2010 – ENTRIES CLOSE NEXT WEEK!!

Entries are looking great for the WCC this year, please make sure your entries and payment are in by Friday 12th March 2010 for this fantastic 2 day event.

We have an excellent trophy table on offer this year in excess of $1000, thanks to some wonderful sponsorship from Wyndham Estate Vineyard and The Crowne Plaza – Hunter Valley Golf & Country Club. This year, we are again playing both the lovely Hunter Valley course and our own tricky course here at Branxton, which I’m certain will provide both a real challenge and a whole lot of fun!

The Wine Country Classic is an annual 2 day Stableford competition, with 18 hole scratch and nett winners in 3 divisions daily, PLUS 36 hole scratch and nett winners in all 3 divisions!

Don’t forget the dinner on Tuesday evening at Branxton Golf Club, catered by the very talented Sammy. There will also be some fun entertainment on the evening.

With the cost being $45 for 2 days of golf, plus $25 for those attending the dinner and show, its great value and promises to be a fun event that you all should have on your calendar!

The March/April golfing calendar is looking very busy, so please check out the “Noticeboard” or your 2010 Ladies Golf Program to keep up to date with what’s coming up. If you’re looking for a reprieve from our Par rounds, we have plenty of opportunities just ahead.
